School Choice: Middle School Assignment Meeting
    Posted on 01/06/2017

    Middle School Assignment Meeting

    Tuesday, January 10, 6:30 until 8 p.m.
    Greenwood Elementary School Library

All 5-7 grade students assigned to and currently attending Broadview-Thomson K-8 will continue to attend the school unless a family applies for a different middle school pathway during the open enrollment process. Open enrollment begins on February 13 for 2017-18.

Because Seattle Public Schools supports family choice, K-8 families may also opt into a comprehensive middle school in their neighborhood. Currently, Broadview-Thomson middle school students can opt into the Robert Eagle Staff Middle School for 2017-18.

School Board Director Rick Burke has put forwarded an amendment to the Student Assignment Plan (SAP) that would make Whitman Middle School the choice option for Broadview-Thomson students instead of Robert Eagle Staff. This amendment will be voted on next Wednesday, January 11 at a special board work session.

Please join School Board Director Rick Burke for a community meeting to discuss the SAP amendment and choice pathway for Broadview-Thomson middle school students. At the Community Meeting Director Burke will be sharing his thoughts on the proposed assignment plan amendment and listening to your comments, both pro and con, before the upcoming vote on January 11.
